Yolanda Mendez Obituary

Yolanda V. Mendez passed from this life November 3, 2021, at the age of 77. She was born November 14, 1943 to Gerardo and Petra Velasquez in Fort Stockton, TX. A graduate of Kermit High School and Drone College in Lubbock, Yolanda was employed at T-Force Freight / UPS Freight and worked as a billing clerk. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and her work family who she spent so much of her life with. She enjoyed spending time with her family for special occasions, holidays, and birthdays. She loved her family and going out to eat. She will be remembered for her generous and giving heart. She was a beautiful soul with a beautiful heart. She didn't know a stranger and loved all who came to know her. She was the best mom, grandma, and great-grandmother that any children and grandchildren could ask for. Our lives were blessed to have her in it. She will be deeply, deeply missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cindy (Albert) Villegas, her son Michael Johnathan Mendez, her grandsons Justin (Krysa) Villegas and Jovin Villegas, and great-grandson Phoenix Villegas, her brothers Gerry (Sally) Velasquez and Joe Del Velasquez, her sister Adel Dominguez, and countless cousins, nephews, and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gerardo and Petra Velasquez, her sister Viola Acosta, her brothers Herman Gomez, Johnny Gomez, and David Gomez, and twin baby boys Villegas.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary Prayer at 7:00 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in New Deal, TX with Father Brian officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
