SSGT Sylvester S. Davila, III

SSGT Sylvester Salazar Davila, III, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019, in Lubbock Texas at the age of 44. He’s survived by his three children, Audrianna Anciso (Allen, TX), Christian Salazar Davila (Charleston, SC) and Lua Maria Davila (Japan); parents, Sylvester and Martha Davila (Las Cruces, NM); sister, Julie Davila (Hurst, TX); a niece, Mireya Garcia (Hurst, TX); Godmother, Beatrice Escamilla (Lubbock, TX); partner, Sonya Trevino (Lubbock, TX), and several beloved family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Sybester Davila; grandmother, Leonisa Davila, and uncle Ignacio Davila.

He was born on April, 27, 1975 in Lubbock, Texas. Sylvester enlisted in the Air Force in 1994 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant, and retired in 2014. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Bagram Afghanistan. He received the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Joint Achievement medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Joint Meritorious Unit Award with 3 oak leaf clusters, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with 1 oak leaf cluster, AF good conduct medal with 5 oak. Sylvester loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved sports especially the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. Services will be provided by Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary to be recited beginning at 7:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary to be recited beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 2019 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment services to follow in City of Lubbock Cemetery.

Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, September 6th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1120 52nd Street Lubbock TX 79412, and will be interred at the Lubbock Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
