John Lara Obituary

John (Juan) Lara, 63, of Lubbock, Texas passed away February 1, 2020, in his home. Juan was born March 27, 1956, to Fabian Lara and Tirza L. Adame in Lubbock, Texas. He married Janie Rodriguez in 2009. Juan was an Army Veteran and of Catholic faith. He worked for A.D.M. Southern Cotton Refinery for 14 years. Juan loved all of his family, including his dog. He enjoyed listening to old music and working on his classic Fury.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Fabian Lara Jr., a grandson Kar’mine Juan Mermella, stepsons Mario and Jay Rodriguez.

Juan is survived by his wife Janie; sons Lucas Oldham of Abilene, Amador Oldham and Nickolaus Lara of Lubbock; daughter Evelyn Lara of Lubbock; brothers Ignacio Lara of San Antonio, Fernando, Fred (Gloria) and Benjamin (Pamela) Lara of Lubbock; sisters Esther L. Sistos (Pedro), Vera Lara, and Leslie Lara of Lubbock; eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nephews and nieces.

Friends and family are invited to pray the rosary at 7:00PM Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Friday, February 7 at 10:00 AM with Father Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
