Emma Cerda Bela, 71, passed away in her home on September 23, 2020. She was born February 3, 1949 in Bronte, Texas to the late Thomas and Petra Cerda. She married Epifanio Bela on September 24, 2016 and they shared four years together. Emma attended Plainview Schools and retired from Mrs. Baird’s after 20 years. She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Lubbock and enjoyed being around people, especially family gatherings. She will be remembered for her love for Jesus, her servant’s heart, her kindness, thoughtfulness, and loveable spirit toward all who knew her. She found so much joy in helping others.
Emma is survived by her husband Epifanio Bela; son Danny Ortega, Sr.; daughter Norma Ortega; granddaughter Leticia Quevedo; grandson Danny Ortega, Jr; great-granddaughters Alexis Quevedo and Aracelly Ortega; great-grandsons Justin Quevedo, Isaac Quevedo, Juan Medellin, and Emilio Medellin; great-great-grandson Severo Quevedo; sisters Irene Cortez, Ofelia Cardenas, Anita Jaramillo, Virginia Garza, Irma Rangel all of Lubbock, and Beatrice Solorzano of Fresno, California.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Petra Cerda; sisters Leonor Barron and Adelmira Cerda; brothers Armando Cerda and Rudy Cerda.
A prayer service will be held Tuesday, September 29 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with Pastor Pete Pena officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
