David Descottier Obituary

David Segura DeSecottier a.k.a. “2Daddy” a.k.a. “Big D” was born to Lydia Valdez on September 12, 1968 in Lubbock, Texas. David was a graduate of Texas Tech University earning both a Bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies and a Masters Degree in Counseling. He served in the United States Army from 1989-1991. He co-owned several restaurants in the Lubbock area and has worked for the last 21 years as a therapist, teacher and vice-principal in the public schools in Lubbock and Oklahoma City. He was dearly loved by his clients and his students. David brought a ray of sunshine and hope to all he encountered. David had two great loves: the Texas Tech Red Raiders and his family who meant everything to him.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lydia Huerta and his dad Andrew Huerta, Brother-in law Roger VonHolzen, Grandparents Andres and Francis Huerta and Pilar Valdez, as well as a brother Stephen whose memory he kept alive. He is survived by his daughters Stephen Ashley (Alex) of Lubbock, Nicole of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and a nephew he called son, Joel DeSecottier also of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as well as a nephew Victor (Amanda) Valdez of Lubbock, niece Valerie (Danny) Grande of Dallas, and a cherished nephew and godson Michael Andrew of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is survived by his granddaughter Selena and grandsons Keein, Isaiah and Aydin who he treasured. He is also survived by his brothers Michael of Missouri, Jonathan (Kelly) of Pennsylvania, Victor (Velma) of Lubbock and Leon of Oklahoma, as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

 

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-9:00pm on Sunday, November 27th, 2022 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with a Rosary beginning at 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, November 28th, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Internment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, Texas.
