Obituary

Christopher Anthony Smith passed from this life on June 11, 2023 at the age of 38. He was born August 9, 1984 in Lubbock, TX to Anita Camargo and Harold Donald Smith Jr. He attended Shallowater ISD, Richard Milburn Academy and South Plains College. Christopher proudly served for 8 years in the United States Army and completed two combat tours during the Iraqi Freedom War. On October 19, 2018 Christopher married Alexandrea, and they shared five years together. He was a member of St. Phillip's Benizi Catholic Church and Veterans of Wars. Christopher enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, fishing, playing with his children, walking his dog Evie, playing his guitar, and singing. He was a die hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Tech sports, and anything Star Wars.

Christopher will be remembered for his contagious smile and laughter and big embracing hugs. The love he had for his "little" grandma Camargo who was his rock, joking around with his brothers, always wanting his mom's home cooking, his expert skills on the grill, his generosity and big giving heart, being his Aunt Sherry and Debbie's first living doll, but most of all for the love he had for his children.

Christopher is survived by his wife Alexandrea and his children Enrique and Anna of Lubbock, TX, Ely and Tatianna of Amarillo, TX, and Daniel and Isaiah of Seligman, MO, his mother Anita Camargo and Gilbert Blanco of Shallowater, TX, his father Harold D. Smith, Jr. of Shallowater, his grandmothers Margarita Camargo and Pauline Gonzales of Shallowater, his brothers Matthew Smith of Shallowater, Andrew and wife Lisett Smith both serving in the US Air Force in Minot, ND, Brandon Smith serving in the US Navy in Norfolk, VA, and his aunts and uncles Maria and Luis Delgado of El Paso, TX, Alfredo and Mary Camargo of Converse, TX, Dalia and Johnny Sosa of Amarillo, TX, Gloria Camargo of Lubbock, TX, Janie and Ed Diaz of Denison, TX, Margaret and Edward Martinez of Kyle, TX, David Camargo of Shallowater, TX, Debbie and Chez McCullough, Sherry Gonzales, Richard Smith, and Jerry Smith all of Shallowater, TX , as well as many cousins. He is preceded in death by his two grandfathers Alfredo Camargo, Sr. and Matilde Gonzales, and his two uncles James Franklin Smith, Sr. and Daniel Lorenzo Camargo.



Matthew B. Smith, Andrew B. Smith, Brandon A. Smith, Ely C. Smith, James F. Smith Jr., and Bobby Escareno will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-9:00pm on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with the Rosary beginning at 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 at St Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Shallowater.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
