It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ygnacia Ordonez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who graced this world with her warmth and kindness from May 8, 1947, until her departure on May 9, 2025. Ygnacia was born in Long Beach, California, and her journey through life led her to Lubbock, Texas, where she spent her final days surrounded by memories of love and laughter.
Ygnacia was known for her unwavering dedication to her work, having spent many years in Environmental Services at UMC before retiring from the Lubbock State School. Her commitment to serving others was evident in every aspect of her life, and her legacy will live on through the hearts she touched.
Above all, Ygnacia had a heart that overflowed with love for her family. She was married to the love of her life, Joe Luciano Ordonez, on August 3, 1965, and their marriage was a testament to the bond they shared. Together, they raised a beautiful family. While her husband Joe and son Jesse have preceded her in death, Ygnacia is survived by her three children: Joe Ordonez and his wife Amy, Jonathan Ordonez and his partner Lia Tipton, and Jannida Ordonez.
Her role as a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren: Jasiah, Jaylin, Janel, JoAnn, Jesse, Lorenzo, Zachariah, Jocelyn, Justice, James, Jacqueline, Jasmine, and Adrian. Ygnacia also delighted in her great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Carmine, John Mateo, and Jacen Mojito, who filled her days with laughter and brightness.
Ygnacia’s personality was described as warm and inviting, always extending kindness to those around her. She had a knack for cooking that transcended mere sustenance; her food carried the flavor of love and became a reason for family gatherings. Her passion for life was reflected in her interests, whether it was watching her favorite novelas, enjoying the company of her beloved dog Paco, or indulging in a bit of shopping.
