Victor Garza Valdez, age 80, passed away on August 24, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born August 2, 1944, in New Deal, Texas to his loving parents, Juan F. Valdez and Ascension Garza Valdez. On August 21, 1964, Victor married the love of his life, Antonia Velasquez Valdez, in Lubbock, Texas. They celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
Victor attended Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University. A retired truck driver, Victor was known for his hard work and dedication to his profession. He was a proud member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Lubbock, Texas, where his faith was central to his life.
Victor enjoyed taking long drives, reminiscing about his destinations, looking at EWTN, watching America’s Funniest Home Videos and watching the Discovery Channel. His greatest delight was spending quality time with his family and making people laugh. He was truly the life of the party.
He was an amazing father to both his daughter, Vickie, and his grandson Nicholas; and he could not pass up a good opportunity to give his son-in-law Ramiro a hard time. Victor will always be remembered by loving his family, he covered them in prayer constantly. Not only did he want unwavering love and joy for everyone, but he also wanted laughter to fill the room in his presence.
Victor was a wonderful neighbor, friend and mentor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Victor is survived by his daughter, Vickie V. Narbaez (Ramiro); his grandson, Nicholas F. Narbaez; brothers-in-law, Leon H. Velasquez (Sylvia), Paul H. Velasquez (Norma); sisters-in-law, Angelina V. Torres, Angie V. Martin (Jim), Judy V. Garza (Bobby), Rebecca V. Sera, Pamela Velasquez and several nieces and nephews that he considered grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Antonia V. Valdez; his parents, Juan F. Valdez and Ascencion G. Valdez; his brothers, Guadalupe G. Luna (Carolina), Delfina L. Estrada (Augustina), Joe G. Valdez (Mercy), Clara G. Escobar (Bo); and his son Rene V. Valdez.
The Holy Rosary will be held at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Victor’s Funeral Mass will be held the same day, September 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM, directly after the Rosary.
