Silviano Mata, born on May 4, 1935, in Dilley, Texas, and a cherished resident of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Silviano was a man of deep compassion and devotion, who spent his life nurturing those around him and creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
He was the beloved husband of the late Catarina Mata, who preceded him in death. Together, they built a vibrant family, the joy of which remains evident in the lives they touched and inspired.
Silviano is survived by his devoted brother, Martin Mata of Lubbock, and his caring sister, Fedela Elizondo of New Braunfels. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Henry and Yolando Martinez of Idalou; Chris and Maggie Mata of Lubbock; Desmo and Sylvia Diaz of Lubbock; James and Cynthia Tobar of Lubbock; and Mario and Virginia Mata of Alvardo. In addition to his children, he was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren, a great-grandfather to 36 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandfather to 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and legacy during the following services held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels located at 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415. Visitation will take place on September 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. The Funeral Service will occur on September 9, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow at the Ralls Cemetery at 2:45 PM.
Silviano Mata's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His kindness and gentle nature have left an indelible mark, ensuring that his memory will endure in the stories and laughter shared among family and friends.
