Susie Lara (Lara) Rivera

Susie Lara Rivera passed from this life on May 3, 2022 at the age of 79. She was born December 24, 1942 in Woodrow, TX to Juan and Juanita Lara. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and worked at the Lubbock State School. She loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with all of her kids. She was always in the kitchen and spent most of her time cooking for her family and relatives. She also enjoyed just visiting with family. She was a great housekeeper and homemaker.

Susie is survived by her children Tina and Adrian Garcia of Farmersville,TX, Julia Rivera of Lawton, OK, Raul Rivera of Lubbock, Doroteo Rivera, Jr. of Austin, TX, Rachel Rivera of Lubbock, Becky and Joe Sanchez of Slaton,TX, Johnny Rivera of Lubbock, Sandy Rivera of Lubbock, her sister Maria Castillo of Colorado and her brother Henry Lara of Lubbock;26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Juan Lara; her mother, Juanita Alonzo Lara; her brothers Matilda Lara and Lupe Lara, Sr. her sisters Hortensia Lara Smith of Missouri and Herminia Lara Davis of Lubbock; and her son George Lara Rivera, Sr.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 5 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6 with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
