Stephen Wayne Massie

Stephen Wayne Massie, lovingly known as Steve, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 30, 2026.

Steve was born in Los Angeles, California, to Raymond and Maria Massie. When he was just a few years old, the family returned to Lubbock, Texas, where he was raised. He attended McWhorter Elementary School, Matthews Junior High School, and graduated from Lubbock High School.

Steve began his career as a carpenter, working alongside his grandfather, uncles, and brothers in the family construction business. Through his dedication and craftsmanship, he helped build many homes throughout the Lubbock area. Steve took great pride in his work and was known as a hardworking man who could accomplish just about anything he set his mind to.

More than his work, Steve will be remembered for the person he was. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room, a kind and generous heart, and a genuine love for his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and touched the lives of many through his kindness, laughter, and unwavering spirit. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Massie; his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Catherine Massie; his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Angelina Hernandez; and his sister-in-law, Kathy Massie.

He is lovingly survived by his mother, Maria H. Perez; his brothers, Alfonso Massie, William Massie, Robert Massie and his wife, Irene, and Jerald Massie and his wife, Arlene; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Though Steve has left this earthly life, his legacy of love, hard work, kindness, and laughter will continue to live on through those who were blessed to know him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

May Steve rest in the eternal peace and loving embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
