Sofia Olbera

Sofia Gloria Olbera was born December 28,1929 in Brady, TX to Tomas Gloria and Florencia Garibay and passed from this life on September 6, 2022 at the age of 92. She was employed at Frenship School District and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she served as a Guadalupana and a Cursillista. Sofia married Teodore Olbera on April 25, 1946. They shared 44 years together and raised eight children Rosemary Maldonado,Anita Garcia, Oralia Chapa, Alex Olbera (Josie), Ted Olbera (Victoria), Jesus Olbera (Josie), Tomas Olbera (deceased) and Florencia Olbera (deceased). They have 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 36 great-great-grandchildren. Sofia has 7 siblings Cecilia Garcia, Sara Ponce, Martin Gloria (deceased), Margarito Gloria, Tomas Gloria (deceased), Ester Pina, Marcos Gloria (deceased), and 10 half-siblings Roy Gloria, Juana Mendoza (deceased), Yolanda Perez, Daniel Gloria (deceased), Rudolfo Gloria (deceased), Amelia Tijerina, Ismael Gloria, Alicia Gaona, Julia Cantu, and Alberto Gloria.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 10 from 3:00 to 9:00 with a 7:00 Rosary at Guajardo Funeral Chapels and on Sunday, September 11 from 3:00 to 6:00 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels and the Holy Rosary at 7:00 at Our Lady of Grace. A funeral mass will be held Monday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
