Sofia Ramos Castillo

Sofia R. Castillo went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 91. She was born on September 30, 1929 in Quitaque, Texas to Pedro and Maria Ramos. On October 17, 1948, Sophia married John J. Castillo, and they shared 57 years together. Sofia was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Sofia enjoyed watching wrestling, LMN, playing Peanut Patty, and telling her childhood stories. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She welcomed people into her home with open arms and a delicious meal. Her frijoliltos and fresh homemade tortillas were unforgettable. Her genuine smile would light up the room and make you feel right at home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and tia. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Sofia is survived by her son Carlos (Lydia) Castillo, Sr.; her three daughters Esther Aguilar, Janie (Jimmy) Mata, Annette (Frank) Castillo; 14 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband John J. Castillo; her parents Pedro and Maria Ramos, her son Joseph Castillo; her daughter Angelita Castillo Arguijo; her 12 brothers and her 3 sisters.

The Holy Rosary will be prayed Thursday, October 29 at 7:00 in the evening at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

A funeral mass will be held October 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudy officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Garden Memorial Park.
