Selia Duenez

Celia Gonzales Duenez, 76, passed away on February 3, 2021 in Lubbock, TX. She was the wife of Manuel Duenez. They married on January 12, 1962 in Karnes City, TX, and shared 56 years together. She was born November 30, 1944 in Pecos, TX to Guillermo and Carmen Gonzales who preceded her in death. She attended Pecos ISD. She was employed at Hutton’s Restaurant in Shallowater as a cook ad with Community Action as a home health aide. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, St. John Neumann Catholic Church, St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church and was a Guadalupana in Shallowater. She enjoyed Crafting, Ceramics, vegetable canning, gardening, cooking and baking. She will be remembered for being a loving and caring mother and an active member of the communities she lived in. Celia was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Manuel Duenez; daughter, Sofia; granddaughter, Sarai Gonzales. She leaves behind her children, Irma Daniel, Gracie Rodriguez (Richard), Belia Gonzales (Gerald), Melinda Cornwall (Christopher) and Roman Duenez (Diane); and grandchildren, Alysa, Reyna, Mariah, Manuel-Ryan, Joshua, Adam, Alexie, Sophie, Elizabeth, Nehemiah, Alexandra and Enrique. Visitation will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 12-9pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited beginning at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Thursday, February 11, 2021 beginning at 10:00am, with Interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
