Samuel Cruz

Samuel Cruz, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on December, 4th, 2021. He was born on October 15, 1937, in El Naranjo, Durango, Mexico, to Zenon and Ernestina (Herrera) Cruz. On September 16th, 1962 he married the love of his life Avelina Serna Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. They spent 59 wonderful years together. Samuel worked as a farmer for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Brownfield, Texas. Samuel enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, watching baseball, and spending meaningful time with his family.
He will always be remembered for being an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his love. Samuel never met a stranger and always extended a helping hand to those in need.
He is survived by his wife, Avelina; his children, Guadalupe (Dennis) Rocha, Zenon (Corina) Cruz, Sammy (Becky) Cruz, Patricia (Martin) Salazar; his grandchildren, Aaron Rocha, Brianna Rocha, Joshua Rocha, Marcus Cruz, Brennan Cruz, Kristopher Salazar, Kassandra Salazar, and Nikolas Salazar; and great grandchildren, Amaya Salazar and Bryn Rocha.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Rocha, Joshua Rocha, Kristopher Salazar, Nikolas Salazar, Marcus Cruz, and Brennan Cruz.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December, 8th, 2021 at 10:00am at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, with Deacon Joe Morin officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, from 9:00am- 9:00pm.
Recitation of the Holy rosary will start at 6:00pm.
