In Loving Memory of Rufina Hernandez Oyervidez

Rufina Hernandez Oyervidez, 91 of Lubbock, Texas, went to be with the Lord on

January 30, 2025 surrounded by many loved ones. Born on February 4, 1933 in Lockhart, Texas to Juan and Maria Hernandez, Rufina devoted her life to her faith and creating a warm and loving home for her family.

Rufina was a faithful servant of Christ and tireless volunteer first at St Joseph Catholic Parish, and then Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish both in Lubbock, Texas. Her dedication to her faith was evident as a Guadalupana, a Cursillista (after attending a Cursillo retreat), a member of the choir and her many years serving in the parish kitchen.

As a dedicated homemaker, Rufina brought joy, comfort, and a sense of belonging to everyone she met. She was known for her homemade tamales, Sunday ollas de caldo o menudo and her unique quilts. Her home was simple but always filled with love, laughter and the sweet aroma of her kitchen. Rufina ls legacy is one of selfless care, fierce support of her children, and countless cherished memories. She loved trips to her hometown of Mathis, always with a stop in her birthplace, Lockhart, Texas for her favorite barbeque.

Rufina is survived by her loving children: Pedro Guajardo Jr. (Patricia), Rosalinda Bush (Banjong), Raymond Oyervidez (Rachel), Yolanda Belgara (Marcos), Fidencio Oyervidez, Jr. (Emma), Chris Oyervidez (Martha); twenty grandchildren; thirty-six greatgrandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two loving husbands, Pedro Guajardo, Sr. and Fidencio Oyervidez, Sr:, her daughter Blanca Lilly Guajardo and her grandson Moses Belgara.

Visitation will be on Wednesday February 5, 2025 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm at Guajardo Funeral Chapel, 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 1120 52nd st, Lubbock, TX 79412 on February 6, 2025 at 2:00pm with internment immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Park, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79407. The pallbearers will be Marcus Belgara, Amber Stone, Joshua Rodriguez, Bryan Moralez, Vincent Campos and Tovi Oyervidez.
