Rosa Monroe

October 7, 1947 — January 5, 2025

Rosa E. Monroe passed from this life on January 5, 2025 from her home at the age of 77.  She was born in Lubbock, Texas to Benito and Victoria Ybanez and was a graduate of Lubbock High School.  She was employed at Texas Instruments and retired as a medical aide from Cottage Villa.  Rosa was a faithful member of the Catholic Church and was generous and kind to all.  She enjoyed bowling, volleyball, art, dancing, crocheting, watching TV, and listening to music.  She will be remembered for her amazing cooking and her unconditional love.

Rosa is survived by her children Patricia Gonzalez of Lubbock, Grace Gonzalez of Lubbock, Pete Gonzalez Jr. of Lubbock, Marcus E. Gonzalez of Ft. Worth, and Benjamin K. Gonzalez of Bay City, TX; her siblings Mary Vierra of Lubbock, Julie Norris of Dallas, Rachel Zubia of Post, Teresa Githings; her brother Johnny Ybanez; 25 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death  By her Husband William Monroe, her parents Benito And Victoria Ybanez Sr., her brother Benito Ybanez Jr., her sisters Vickie Cantu, Vivian Rivera, and her grandchildren Dominic Austin, Chyanne Villarreal, and Jovanne Marin.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm-9:00pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with a Rosary beginning at 7:00pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, January 10, 2025 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church

Interment will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
