Rogelio Ortiz Palacios was born in Santo Tomas, Coahuila, Mexico on December 27, 1936 to Antonio Ortiz and Maria de Jesus Ortiz Palacios. He passed from this life from his home on January 16, 2025 at the age of 88. Rogelio married Rosa Maria Ortiz on August 30, 1959, and they shared 64 beautiful years together. He had limited formal education but earned his welding certificate and was very proud of becoming a U.S. citizen. He was a retired welder from Reynold's Modules and Trucks. He attended Colgate Bilingual Church of Christ where he enjoyed leading prayers and songs, was a deacon, and later, became an elder. He enjoyed playing soccer as a young boy but enjoyed fishing and baseball his entire life. He also enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, carpentry, welding art, inventing things, being out in nature, and listening to mariachi music. He had a special way with animals and earned their trust readily. He loved being around family and friends and door knocking to spread The Word. Rogelio will be remembered for his love for God and his passion that everyone should know God. He had a ready smile, and no one was a stranger to him. He helped everyone and anyone he could however he could, including people stranded on the road and stopped to help people in wrecks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Maria Ortiz Bibbs and husband Travis G., Rogelio Ortiz Jr. and wife Judy, Josie Rodriguez and husband Santiago, Jesusita Martin and husband David, Carmen O. Puente and husband Arthur, Servando Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz and wife Jessica, his daughter-in-law Mary Helen Ortiz, 19 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Rogelio is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rosa Maria, his parents Antonio Ortiz and Maria de Jesus Ortiz Palacios, his son Marcos Antonio Ortiz, his brother Antonio Ortiz Palacios, his sisters Maria de Jesus Ortiz Palacios Munoz and husband Mario Munoz and Agustina Ortiz Palacios Perez and husband Frank Perez, and his sister-in-law San Juana Ortiz.

In Memory of Rogelio Ortiz
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Colgate Bilingual Church of Christ with Pastor Arthur Puente officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 23 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
