Reuban C. Garcia

Reuban C. Garcia, 75, went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born October 18, 1948 in Smiley, Texas to Felix and Amelia Garcia. He married Ismeralda R. Garcia on April 29, 1973 in Plainview, Texas and they shared 50 beautiful years together.

Reuban served in the U.S. Army as a specialist in the 142nd Infantry for 6 years and served several years in the Texas National Guard. He retired from Sodexo in January 2024 and did maintenance for Bayless and Atkins. He was also a member of Christ the King Church in Lubbock, Texas.

Reuban enjoyed listening to music, repairing and rebuilding machinery; avid collector. He loved watching movies and spending time with the love of his life. Reuban never met a stranger and was very much admired by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and will be deeply missed by everyone.

Reuban is survived by his beautiful wife, Ismeralda, and his children: Steve Gutierrez (and wife Shirley) of Seagraves, Texas, Becky Perez (and husband Sammy) of Lubbock, Texas, Danny Rodriguez (and wife Jessica) of Lubbock, Texas, Karen Garcia of Lubbock, Texas, his 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, his 9 siblings (4 brothers and 5 sisters), and many nieces and nephews. Reuban is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Amelia Garcia and his sons, Tommy Gutierrez and Ruben Garcia Jr.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, located at 407 N. University Avenue in Lubbock, Texas.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Christ the King Cathedral with Rev. Seth Lorenz officiating.
