Ray Torres

Ray Torres, born on November 26, 1963, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and cherished him, but his generous spirit and warm presence will long be remembered.

Ray was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and uncle whose life was shaped by deep connections and unwavering dedication to family and faith. The beloved son of the late Francisco and Valentina Torres, Ray was predeceased by his dear wife, Nelda Ortega Torres, as well as his siblings Frank Torres, Ruben Torres, Beatrica Torres, David Torres, and Maggie Salazar. He is survived by his cherished son, Ray Torres, loving sister Olga Torres, devoted brother Julian Torres, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A proud graduate, Ray completed high school and continued his education by attending college for nursing, demonstrating his early ambition to serve and care for others. He built a career at Xcel Energy, where his hard work and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Ray’s commitment to his faith and to his community was evident throughout his life. He served faithfully as an usher at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church, a source of great pride and fulfillment for him. His guiding hand welcomed many into the church, and he became a familiar, comforting face to parishioners, embodying the values he so deeply held.

Known among family and friends for his sense of humor and lighthearted spirit, Ray was a true jokester who could effortlessly bring smiles and laughter to any gathering. His love for the church and for his family was evident in the way he lived his life each day, always making time for those closest to him and never missing an opportunity to express his affection.

Ray delighted in family moments—the simple joys of watching movies together, sharing stories, and especially their treasured family vacations to places like Six Flags, which have left the family with countless joyful memories. These moments, and so many more, are now precious treasures for those who remain.

Though his time was too brief, Ray Torres left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy of service, warmth, and humor will be remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to honor Ray’s life and memory during the following services: Visitation will be held on July 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415. A Rosary will follow at the same location beginning at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Grace Catholic Church, 3111 Erskine Street, Lubbock, TX 79415.

Ray will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, steadfast faith, quick wit, and profound devotion to those he held dear.
