Raymundo G. Guzman Sr., affectionately known as Mundo, passed away on May 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and dedication to family. Born on March 16, 1941, in Lockhart, Texas, Mundo lived a life enriched by travel, music, and heartfelt connections.
Mundo’s career as a truck driver took him across the United States, a journey of which he was especially proud. His love for exploration and adventure was matched only by his passion for bringing joy to those around him. Known for his infectious sense of humor, Mundo delighted in making people happy, often joking around and engaging warmly with strangers. He had a remarkable ability to brighten any room with his presence, and his love of karaoke was a cherished pastime that connected him deeply with his karaoke family and encouraged his own family members to join in song.
One of the most enduring memories treasured by those who knew Mundo was the tradition of camping every Father’s Day for many years. He cherished having family gathered together, especially when playing Loteria.
Mundo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Armandina V. Guzman; his parents, Manuel and Isabel Guzman; his sister, Celia Carrasco; his brother, Ruperto Guzman; and his sons, Ray Guzman, Jr. and Adam Guzman, his brother-in-law Reyes Pequeno, and his sister-in-law Rosalinda Guzman. The circle of those who survive him is vast and filled with love: his sister Rosa Pequeno; brothers Manuel Guzman (Diana) and Albert Guzman; daughters Silvia G. Rivera, Ester C. Benitez, and Yolanda G. Rivera (Ramiro); sons Adam Guzman (Dianne) and Ruperto Guzman (Carla); and an extensive extended family of 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
Raymundo G. Guzman Sr.’s life was marked by a genuine spirit and unwavering devotion to family and friends. His voice and laughter will echo in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him, a testament to a man who truly loved to live, to sing, and to cherish those around him.
Visitation will be held on May 25, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, Texas 79415, with a Rosary service beginning at 6:00 p.m. that same day. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 26, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1603 Cherry Ave, Lubbock, Texas 79403. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, 15602 TX-493 Loop, Woodrow, Texas 79423, commencing at 11:00 a.m.
