Ramona “Monchie” Garcia passed away peacefully December 13, 2025, at 5:22 a.m. at home surrounded by her family who gathered around her hand in hand reciting “Our Father”.
Ramona graduated from Lubbock High School in 1980. She worked as an equipment tech at UMC. She was a Cowboys fan, now Chiefs fan, and always a Tech fan. She loved all sports. One could call her the MVP of Sports. She was very loving and could always make you laugh or smile with her one-of-a-kind personality. She made sure to give everyone a funny nickname, especially her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters Yolanda Gonzalez, Sophie Martinez, Jerry L. Garcia, David L. Garcia, and her uncle Juan Luna all from Lubbock; nieces and nephews Loretta Longoria, Michelle Garcia, Alex Matthew Garcia, Jerry Lee Garcia, Jr.; grandnieces and grandnephews Jerry Lucas Garcia III, Gerry Lyn Garcia, and Vaughn Garcia.
Ramona is preceded in death by her parents Amador and Mary Garcia, her brothers Martin Reyes, John Manuel Hernandez, and Alex Garcia.
As we celebrate Ramona’s life, it is certain that she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
