Phillip Mathew Rodriguez

Phillip Matthew Rodriguez was 28 years old and born in Lubbock, Texas to Felipe and Maria Rodriguez on July 20,1991. Phillip graduated from Lubbock High School in 2009.

While attending Lubbock High School, Phillip was a part of various athletic teams in which he received many accolades including being listed to the All-District 1st team offense along with holding weightlifting records. Phillip’s life after high school consisted of devoting time to his family and hobbies. He was a man of many skills which was reflected by his work as a master butcher and administrator at his family’s meat market. His hard-working hands were also able to build his wife her house from the ground up. Phillip was also an avid motorcycle and gun enthusiast with many aspirations to increase his collection. Phillip was a great role model for everyone that he came into contact with. He was a protector, his wife’s “Osito”, loving, caring, selfless, and respectful. He enjoyed coaching his younger brothers throughout their athletic endeavors, and he would always be on the sidelines never missing a game. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Manuel Barcenas and Salvador Rodriguez, and uncles, Santiago and Gabriel Rodriguez.

Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life, Yvonne Rodriguez, his parents, Felipe and Maria Rodriguez, his siblings, Evelyn Rodriguez (Santiago), Chris Rodriguez (Christiana), Manuel Rodriguez, Jacen Rodriguez, and Alexis Rodriguez. His nieces Miliana Alicia Rodriguez and Melanie Christine Rojas and his nephews Elian Santiago Ramirez and Mason Pena. A Rosary will be held Friday, April 10, 2020 at 7 P.M. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020, at 2 P.M. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all of the friends that have shown their continued support during these trying times. We know Phillip was truly loved by many and he will be missed.
