Petrita Solis

Petrita Pena Solis “Patsy”. Our beloved mother grandma and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on July 25, 2026. She was surrounded by her family she loved the most!

Patsy was born on March 19, 1939 in Taft, Texas to Pedro and Concepcíon Pena. She married the love of her life of 64 years Arthur Solis on October 31, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Patsy was a woman whose love for her family was at the center of everything she did. She was hardworking, kind, caring, and always willing to help others, treating everyone she met with kindness and respect. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a stubborn streak that only added to her charm. If Patsy had something on her mind, you knew it her facial expressions said it all, and she never hesitated to speak honestly. While her words could sometimes be blunt, they always came from a genuine heart.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending weekends at garage sales, browsing Goodwill, and collecting treasures for the little thrift store she created in her home. She enjoyed visiting her brothers, collecting clocks, and spending time downtown with friends, catching up on the latest gossip in town. Sundays were reserved for church, and she always looked forward to having her hair and nails done at SPC. No matter where she was going or what she was doing, one thing was certain—her signature red lipstick was always on.

Although she often claimed she didn’t like animals, she never could turn them away and always made sure they were fed. She was famously careful with her dish soap, making every drop count, even with several extra bottles sitting nearby. These little habits became part of what made her so uniquely Patsy.

Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Her cooking brought family together, and many looked forward to gathering around her table to enjoy the meals she lovingly prepared. More than anything, she cherished time with her family. Whether it was a small visit or a large family gathering, she wanted to be there, creating memories with the people she loved most. And those who knew her will never forget the family celebration where she enjoyed herself a little too much and jokingly insisted she wanted the whole bottle! That is one of many stories that will continue to bring laughter for years to come.

Patsy’s love, honesty, laughter, and unforgettable spirit leave behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Solis, five brothers Pete Deleon, Dorotello Pena, Encarnasio Pena, Theodore Pena, Julian Pena; & Ricardo Pena and three sisters, Santos Morales, Lucia Luna, Juana Cavazos.

She is survived by one son, Arthur Solis Jr and wife, Victoria of Levelland; four daughters, Ida, Brophy, and husband Tony of Dallas; Angelina, Rendon, and husband Danny of Amarillo; Alice Hernandez and husband Michael of Littlefield; Amanda Vick and husband Todd of Lubbock; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Guajardo funeral Chapels 407 N. University Ave, Lubbock, TX on Thursday, July 30 from 5:00 to 9:00. Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Anton Cemetery in Anton, Texas to be laid at rest with her husband Arthur Solis.
