Paula H. Luera

Paula H. Luera went to eternal home at the age of 76. She shared many happy years with her husband Alfredo Z. Luera who preceded her in death. Paula was born March 22, 1944 in Lockhart, TX to Tomas Hernandez and Paula Estrada. Paula retired from Covenant Health Systems where she worked in Housekeeping mostly in the NICU unit for ten years. Paula was a devoted member of St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Wolfforth, TX. She was a member of the Guadalupanas for over 30 years. She loved working puzzles, traveling, dancing, and any type of church activity. She absolutely loved spending time with her large family. Paula will be remembered for her laughter, smile, and unconditional love for her family and others.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Sandra Alvarez (Xavier) of Devine, TX, Santiago Castilleja (Frankie Lynn) of Shantytown, WI, Tom Castilleja of Huntsville, TX, Raymond Castilleja (Elizabeth) of Lubbock, TX, Joe L. Castilleja of Warner Robins, GA, Michael Castilleja of San Antonio, TX, JoAnn Barrientos (John Jr.) of Lubbock, TX; her brother Pete Hernandez (Helen) of Ft. Worth, TX; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Paula is preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Luera, her parents Tomas Hernandez and Paula Estrada, her sister Guadalupe Hernandez, and her brothers Juan, Thomas, and Francisco Hernandez.
Visitation will begin at Guajardo Funeral Chapels at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3. The Holy Rosary will be prayed later that evening at 7:00. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4 at 10:00 a.m. at the City of Lubbock Cemetery with Father Tim Schwertner officiating.
