It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of, Olivia Denise Islas, age 63, who passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10,2026. Born on September 19, 1962 in Spur,TX.

Olivia was a woman who was truly one of a kind. She was outspoken, stubborn, fiery, strong willed, and never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. But beneath that fierce spirit was one of the most giving, loving, and generous hearts you could ever know.

She had a personality that filled every room that she walked into. You always knew when she was there, and you certainly never forgot her. She could make you laugh, make you shake your head, and sometimes make you want to argue— but that was simply who she was, and we love every bit of her for it.

She had a way of taking people under her wing and making them feel like family. She taught through her actions, loved fiercely, and was always there when someone needed her. To know her was to have a story, a memory, or a laugh that would carry with you forever.

She found joy in the simple things in life—she loved a good trip to the casino, gathering around the table for a lively game of wahoo, cards or loteria, where laughter filled the room, teasing was constant, and she somehow always seemed to come out ahead while everyone else enjoyed the fun of trying to beat her. And nothing made her happier than a good barbecue with her family, where the food was plenty, the stories were shared, and the love was always felt by everyone present.

Olivia is preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine; her parents Leonardo & Eloise Vasquez; sisters Leonor (Nena) Casillas, Consuela Garcia, Sheila Rios, Juanita Kay Valdez, and Guadalupe Romero.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Alejandro Islas, and their children; Samantha and Krissy, Israel and Cammie Islas, Ismael and Jerrica Islas, Ana and John Taylor. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren — Brendon, Tatum, Quincy, Peyton, Ryder, Mason, Trae, Christian, Aven, Malik, Jordan, Madilyn, Avery, and Brecklyn. She is also survived by Leandro Vasquez, Alfredo Vasquez, Juan Vasquez, Irma Sanchez, Leonard Vasquez, Margie Valerio, and Norma Lara.

Her stubbornness made her strong. Her feistiness made her unforgettable. Her giving heart made her loved. And her love made her family stronger. Her memory will live on in every story we tell, every laugh we share, and the unforgettable woman she was.
