Monica Hernandez, born on February 11, 1961, in Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. Monica was a truly remarkable individual, whose life was characterized by her unwavering faith and profound dedication to her family and community. A loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished friend, she filled the lives of those around her with love and kindness.
Throughout her life, Monica demonstrated an extraordinary spirit of giving. She served generously, never worrying about personal lack, and always prioritized the well-being of others. Her loving nature extended especially to her family, whom she adored beyond measure, with a special bond to her beloved Nani-Nani. Monica's character was defined by her kindness, gentleness, loyalty, and forgiving heart, leaving unforgettable impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her family recalls that Monica had a unique way of making every moment count. She cherished her hobbies which included gardening, thrifting, and spending quality time with her loved ones at the lake, particularly during holidays, all the while nurturing relationships within her family. She took great pride in sharing her favorite Bible verses, such as Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go," and Filipenses 4:13, "Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece," as testaments to her strength and faith.
Monica is survived by her husband, Jr. (Felipe); her sons, Edward Santos, Jr., Adam Hernandez and his wife Heather, Jacob Hernandez and his wife Christina, and Jeremy Hernandez and his wife Pamela; her daughter, Yvonne Guitierrez and her husband Jonathan; and her daughters, Jessica Santos and Trinity Hernandez. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren: Rose, Jonathan and his wife Lexi, Mandi, Margot, and Alahni. Monica also leaves behind her sisters, Rebecca Bell and Connie Arrambide along with her brother-in-law Richard; and David Gutierrez and his wife Dee; as well as many nieces and nephews who will carry forward her legacy of love.
Monica was predeceased by her beloved mother Eulalia Ramirez; her father Juan Ramirez; and her brother Juan Ramirez, Jr. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of many, yet her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts she touched.
Monica Hernandez’s life is a testament to love, faith, and resilience. She ran her race with grace, and although she may no longer walk among us, the love she shared will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In gratitude for the years shared with such a beautiful soul and faithful servant of the Lord, her family plans to honor her memory with visitation on July 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on July 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, both held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, Texas.
