Maria S. (Sotelo) Castro

Maria Sotelo Castro, 76, passed away on April 25, 2020 at Windmill Village in Lubbock, TX. She was the wife of Victor Castro. They were married on July 24, 1987 in Lubbock and shared 33 years together. She was born on August 8, 1943 in Lubbock to Steven and Catherine Sotelo. Maria raised a loving and caring family, and was employed at Covenant Lakeside Hospital where she worked as a housekeeper for 12 years and Texas Instruments for 18 years. She always helped anyone without expecting anything in return. She had a heart of gold and was so very kind. She loved being with family, cooking for Holidays and trying to keep all the family in good spirits. Maria will be remembered for her generosity and her sense of humor. She always had jokes. She was such a loyal, hardworking woman that always wanted the best for everyone. Maria is survived by her daughters, Margie Trevino, Norma Lofton, Lupe Hernandez and Yvonne Gonzales, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Castro, dad, Steven Sotelo, mom, Catherine Wilson and brother, Joe Sotelo. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 from 3-9pm. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 beginning at 2:00pm in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
