Marcelo Aguilar (1936-2026)
Marcelo Aguilar, 90, a devout Catholic, of Lubbock, Texas, went home to our Lord, from his home after a short illness on April 15, 2026. While this is the end of his physical life on Earth, it is the beginning of an eternal life with the Lord.
He was born on January 16, 1936, in Lubbock, Texas to Jose and Romana Aguilar. Marcelo was one of eight children and a native of Lubbock. He was a devoted husband and father, and a loving (great) grandfather. He learned the value of hard work at a young age. He had a career as a machinist.
Marcelo was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe. He married the love of his life, Mary Julia Maldonado on April 27, 1958. They had eight children and instilled to them the value of hard work. He loved to share his memories about his ancestors, his youth, his work life and especially about growing up within a migrant family. He loved his family deeply and was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his family,
Those left to cherish his memory include his 7 surviving children – three daughters and four sons. Christina (Danny) Gomez of Littlefield, Texas; Elena Aguilar of the home; Julie Marie (Robert) Rojo of Irving, Texas; Gerardo (Maria) Aguilar of Lampasas, Texas; Francisco (Virginia) Aguilar, Antonio (Jamaica) Aguilar, Marcelo Aguilar (Jessica) Jr., daughter in law Yolanda Aguilar, all of Lubbock, Texas and special “daughter” Cheng-Chi Yei Hsieh of Henderson, Nevada.
He is also survived by many loving family members, including his sisters, Margarita (Gilberto) Lozano, Josephina Perez and one brother, Benito (Esther) Aguilar, all of Lubbock; sisters-in-law Genoveva Delacruz of Lampasas, Texas and Matilda (Robert) Morales of Georgetown, Texas.
Marcelo was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Julia, his parents, Jose and Romana; his brothers, Juan and Francisco, his sister, Anastacia Fuentez; his son, Joe Manuel Aguilar, two grandchildren, Alejandro and Julia Aguilar and three great grandchildren.
