Lorenzo A. Rivera, age 88, of Lubbock, Texas, was born on August 10, 1937, in Caldwell County, Texas, and passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Lorenzo was a man of deep and unwavering faith who served as a pastor of his own church, Templo Jerusalem, dedicating his life to guiding others and sharing his love for God. He worked for many years with Gifford Hill Irrigation before retiring. After retirement, his strong work ethic and passion led him to start his own business, Lorenzo Rivera Irrigation. Through his work, he built lasting relationships and earned the respect and admiration of the many farmers and individuals he served.
Above all, Lorenzo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Rivera. He is also survived by his children, listed in order: Diana Vasquez, Maria Deleon, Hilaria Silva (Gonzalo), Adelita Rivera, Anastacio Rivera (Diana), Isabel Martinez, Lucy Casarez (Thomas), Debra Escobedo, Delia Rivera (Telesforo), and Gloria Rivera.
Lorenzo’s legacy lives on through his large and loving family, including 34 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Soledad Rivera; his son, Lorenzo Rivera Jr.; his parents, Longino Rivera and Sabina Rivera; his sisters, Ernestina Villanueva, Maria Lucia Lopez, and Gregoria Montelongo; and his brother, Claudio Rivera.
He is also survived by his siblings, Anastacio Rivera (Delila) of Donna, Texas, and Eulalia Guevara of Nebraska.
Lorenzo will be remembered for his strong faith, hardworking spirit, and the deep love he had for his family and community. His legacy of dedication, kindness, and unwavering devotion will live on through all who knew and loved him.
