Leonardo Guajardo Zarazua

November 6, 1945 — July 3, 2023

On Monday, July 3, 2023 Leonardo Guajardo Zarazua, left this green Earth at the age of 77. He had been through a lot this year, especially the last few weeks. He is now free of pain. We celebrate this for him, and he will greatly be missed. He was born on November 6, 1945, in Calvert, Texas. He was 1 of 10 sons to Senor Juan y Rosa Zarazua.
He attended school in Calvert, Texas, then proceeded to continue his education at Matthews in Lubbock, TX. In July of 1969, he was awarded a certificate of successfully completing the Course of Study and training for the Guitar from U.S. School of Music. He was employed for many years by Master's Cleaners. Leonard was also a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was an advocate for animals by donating to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He lived a very active life, bicycling, gardening, and playing music with his little brother.

He will be remembered as a man that never met a stranger; a man who always made everyone feel welcomed. Leonard had an open mind and an open heart that made it easy for him to be friends with just about anyone. He will be remembered for his kind heart and compassion for animals. He will be remembered as a guy that was always ready to help.
He is survived by his older brother, Felix Zarazua and youngest brother Tomas Zarazua both of Lubbock, TX. He was the beloved Tio of a lot, of nieces and nephews from here, Colorado, Michigan and Mexico. Let's not forget Perrita (Girl) who has now been re-homed with a loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Rosa Zarazua, and brothers Claudio Zarazua of Ralls TX, Cruz Zarazua of Capulin, CO, Isidro Zarazua of Dimmit TX, Valentine, Joe and Juan Zarazua of Lubbock, TX, , and last but not least, is Flaco Zarazua his loyal, now royal fur baby.

Funeral services will be a Celebration of his Life and will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
Viewing will be Wednesday, July 5 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM with the rosary at 7 PM.

What I believe with all my being is that he is no longer in pain and the illnesses have left his body.
I feel joy, pure joy knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones, reunited with his beloved Flaco.
