It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leon Ochoa, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born in Lubbock, Texas, on August 24, 1952, Leon's journey through life saw him touch the hearts of many. Leon’s remarkable spirit shone brightly during the challenging years of his illness, as doctors initially predicted he would have only 3 to 6 months to live. Through unyielding faith, a fighting spirit, and the support of his loved ones, he extended his time with them for eight precious years, creating memories that will forever be held dear.

Leon was immensely proud of the family he built alongside his loving wife, Lucy Ochoa. He adopted the role of a devoted father to Lucy's children, Debbie (Ruben) Robles and Gilbert (Vanessa) Flores Jr embracing them with unwavering affection. His Grandchildren Ashley (DJ) Revilla. Gabby Robles, Erika Pritchard, Leslie, Adriana, Alexandra, Angelica, Alyssa, Anthony Flores and his great grandchildren Liliana and Nathan Revilla.

Leon is survived by his mother, Manuela Ochoa, who nurtured a family that embraced one another through thick and thin. He is also survived by his sisters, Rosemary Wilson, Cecilia Martinez, Sandy Mendoza, Millie, and Ester Ochoa, as well as his brothers, John, Joe, Ramon, and Thomas (Natalie) Ochoa. The family tree extends into the next generation with 15 nieces and nephews, as well as 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews, each of whom holds a special place in their hearts for the man who cherished them so profoundly.

Leon’s passions included traveling, fishing, and playing pool, hobbies that brought him joy and camaraderie. He had a zest for life that was contagious, and his presence warmed the hearts of everyone around him. As a devoted family man, Leon cherished family gatherings and made those moments unforgettable with laughter and stories that will echo through generations.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leon Ochoa Sr., sister Mary Ochoa, and brothers Albert, Pete, Anselmo, and Jessie Ochoa.

A visitation will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, TX, on May 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, which will include a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM. The Mass will take place at Our Lady Grace Catholic Church on May 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a burial at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park at 11:00 AM.

Leon Ochoa leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience among his family and friends. His spirit will forever remain in their hearts.
