Juanita Lopez, née Sanchez, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 24, 1946, Juanita’s life was a testament to strength, dedication, and unwavering love for those she cherished most.

A proud graduate of Texas Tech, Class of 1968, Juanita's determination and commitment to education remained central to her life. She carried those values into every role and relationship she embraced, as she dedicated 30 years of her life educating students in Lubbock, Lockney, and Lamesa schools.

Juanita was loved by all who knew her. Her hobbies included cooking and reading, yet she enjoyed spending time with family most of all.

Juanita was the beloved wife of Nicacio Lopez. Together, they built a family rooted in loyalty and warmth. She is deeply mourned by her son, Nicacio Lopez, and daughter-in-law, Christy, who will forever honor her memory through their lives and actions. Juanita was the devoted grandmother to Timothy, Dominic, and Zoe, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

She is also survived by her siblings: her sisters Yolanda Sanchez and Corina Rice, and her brothers Oscar Sanchez and Felix Sanchez. Each relationship was unique and treasured, enriched by Juanita’s capacity for compassion, understanding, and kindness.

Juanita’s legacy is also lovingly remembered by those who preceded her in death: her father Y.B. Sanchez, her mother Andrea Sanchez, her brother Mike Sanchez, and her sister Victoria Jackson.
