Juan Manuel Cortez Mosqueda, 73, passed away on December 3, 2021, at his home. He was the husband of Sylvia Cortez. They married March 16 in Lubbock and shared 40 years together. He was born November 30, 1948, in La Piedad, Michoacan to his parents Guadalupe and Quirino Cortez. He was employed in construction and was proud of his work as a concrete finisher. He enjoyed time with his grandkids, listening to music, comedy, soccer, boxing, roosters, and a nice cold beer. He will be remembered for his hard work, his wittiness, storytelling, laughter, and his love for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; his daughters Lupita, Estela, Nena, Lili, Martha, and Noemi; his sons Juan Quirino, Carlos, Pablo, and Juan; his mother Guadalupe; his sisters Lupita, Estella, Salud, Soledad; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father Quirino, his son Isidro, and his stepson Daniel.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, December 5 from 3:00 to 6:00 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
The family extends deepest gratitude to all doctors, nurses, and technicians who provided great care to him. In lieu of flowers, his family asks for donations to make in his memory to Hope Lodge American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Make-a-Wish Foundation. He will be dearly missed.
