Joshua Martinez was born on August 24, 2020, to Andrea and Raul Martinez, completing a family already full of love. He joined his older siblings, Julia Catalina, Lilliana Olivia, and Luis Diego. From the moment he arrived, Joshua was the missing piece our family we never knew we needed, but we will feel the void now that he is gone.
Joshua loved playing with his dinosaurs (which he knew all by name), turning up his WWE music, bringing energy and laughter wherever he was. Joshua also loved the outdoors and would always eagerly ask if he could ride to mow the lawn, or help water the trees or garden. Joshua had many adventures camping, visiting amusement parks, seeing the ocean, visits to the zoo, and volunteering at St. Joseph Jamaica.
Those who cherish Joshua’s memory include his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Gloria Armenta, and his paternal grandmother, Maria de Jesus Martinez. Tías and Tíos: Linda Armenta; Alex (Elizabeth) Armenta; Miguel (Maria) Martinez; Nora (Charlie) Brown; Monica (Marcos) Lopez; Alejandro (Dianne) Martinez; Irene (Toby Sr.) Williams; and Elizabeth Martinez. He is lovingly remembered by his many cousins, second cousins, Tios, Tias, the brother Knights from Council 8097, and the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church who loved him dearly.
Joshua’s family also grew to include his cancer siblings (children who stood beside him through treatment), they understood the pain of hospital stays, and shared the experience of being away from home. Through it all, Joshua amazed doctors and nurses by his bravery, courage, understanding and knowledge he had for his fight against T-Cell Acute Lymphoma Leukemia. Unfortunately, it was his secondary diagnosed of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) that sadly led to his passing.
Joshua is preceded by his paternal grandpa Alberto Martinez. Tías and Tíos: Cristobal, Jose Luis, Juan Antonio, Felimon Cecilio, Martin Martinez; Albert and Luis Maldonado; Isabel Flores; Hilaria Valdez; Rosa Maria Reyna; Martha Armenta Lucero; Godmother/Tia Yolanda Armenta Torrez.
