Jose Octavio Rodriguez

Our beloved, Jose O. Rodriguez went to be with the Lord on December 3rd, 2021, at University Medical Center in Lubbock TX.  “Joe” was born on July 5th, 1951 in Edinburg TX to Jose and Elida Rodriguez. “Joe the Jewel” graduated from Edinburg High School in 1969. After graduating he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served in the Vietnam War. He was extremely proud of being a Veteran. He was the husband of Beatrice C. Rodriguez. They married November 17th 1973 in Lubbock TX and shared 48 wonderful years together. When many think of Joe they think about garage doors – he was employed at Overhead Door Company for 47 years.  He was a member of The Knights of Columbus (Christ the King Catholic Church) and parish member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  Joe was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and a big Dallas Cowboys fan.  He will be remembered for his stories, his bigger than life personality, his generosity, his sense of humor and his dedication to his family friends and career. He is survived by his wife Beatrice Rodriguez, his daughter Erica Rodriguez, grandson JD Rodriguez, two brothers Raul (Gerbie) Rodriguez and Efrain (Margaret) Rodriguez and numerous aunts, uncles, neices, nephews and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his parents Jose and Elida.  Visitation will be held Wednesday December 8th at Guajardos Funeral home from 3pm-9pm with rosary to start at 7pm, 407 N University in Lubbock. Funeral services will take place Thursday December 9th at 11am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 10805 Indiana Ave. in Lubbock with Monsignor David R. Cruz officiating.  Graveside services to follow immediately after at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, 15602 Texas 493 Loop in Lubbock.
