Jose Delis Garcia

Jose Garcia, 85, beloved Father/Grand Father/Friend, was called to his eternal resting place on January 30, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease . He entered this world on March 19, 1933 in Delores, Texas, born to Rafaela Reyna and Jose Delis Garcia, Sr. He married the love his life Leonor H. Garcia on June 3, 1956 in Laredo, Texas. Together they had twelve children, forty-two grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Jose was a life long member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and was the first to bring a group of Indian dancers know as "The Matachines" to Lubbock. Jose was also Guadalupano and Usher. Jose was a well known mechanic, and a custodian for McWhorter Elementary for twenty five years when he retired. He has made many friends and has helped countless people. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children (sons) Jose (Maryann),Abel (Norma), Roger, Aurelio (Mary), Danny (Cynthia), Alex Garcia (daughters) Luz, Elizabeth (Fred) Campos, Cindy (Lucio), Connie (Felipe) Pauda, Yvonne (Lupe) Martinez. Brother Santiago Jr. Martinez, (sisters) Guadalupe Rodriguez, San Juana Estrada, Ofelia Martinez, Rafaela Reyna Martinez. Jose is proceeded in death by his wife Leonor H Garcia, daughter Rosalinda Garcia, His Parents Rafaela and Jose Sr. A rosary will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Guarjardo Funeral Chapels at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Our Lady of Grace at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
