Jose Corona

April 29, 1959 — January 1, 2026

Jose Luis Corona Ochoa, a devoted heavy equipment operator crew leader for the City of Lubbock, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on April 29, 1959, in Tacuba Mpo. Guerrero Chihuahua, Mexico, Jose brought his remarkable skills and integrity to his career, where he dedicated 26 years to maintaining alleys and roads in the city.

He was a man of many interests and passions. Jose was known for his love of horses, often spending hours riding and training them to do tricks. He cherished the time spent on his farm, where he proudly built both his home and his livelihood. Riding horses and sharing meals with his beloved wife, Jenoveba Castro Corona, their three sons—Luis Alfredo, Julio Cesar, and Fabian Corona—and eight grandchildren brought immense joy to his life.

Jose was well-regarded not only for his hard-working nature but also for his warm personality. He had a gift for making people laugh, often lifting the spirits of those around him, even during challenging moments. Friends and family remember him as generous, friendly, trustworthy, and an exceptional husband and father. His sense of humor and ability to connect with others made him a beloved figure in his community.

He completed his education in Mexico, and over the years built a rich life through his family and friendships, nurtured by deep love and respect. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jenoveba; sons, Luis Alfredo, Julio Cesar, and Fabian; brothers, Abel Corona (Cruz) and Manuel Alonso Corona; his sister, Luz Elda Corona de Cervantes (Guadalupe); along with his eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Jose’s legacy will be cherished by those who knew him, and his influence will be felt for years to come. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Reyes Corona Barrera and Esperanza Ochoa Barreda de Corona; brothers, Noe, Efren, Mario, and Isaias Corona Ochoa; sisters, Concepcion and Martina Ivon Corona Ochoa; and his grandson, Mark Castro (Jordiz).
