John Ruiz

Johnny Ruiz, 82 of Lubbock, was called to be with the Lord, on April 11, 2020, at home surrounded by loved ones.

Johnny was born June 15, 1937, in Donie, TX to Silverio and Guadalupe (Oliva) Ruiz. He married the former Celia Rodriguez June 10, 1962, in Lubbock, TX, and they shared more than 55 years together.

He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and close friends. Johnny had a contagious laugh and smile that would light up a room. He always looked forward to traveling with his grandchildren making lasting memories. Johnny was a wonderful, kind person with a beautiful soul, who will be remembered for his unconditional love, faith, and loyalty to his family. A viewing will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Wednesday and Thursday 5:00 PM to 9:00PM and a Graveside service will be held at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Celia Ruiz, his daughter; Lydia Licon, his parents; Silverio and Guadalupe, brothers; Domingo Ruiz, Antonio Ruiz, Silverio Ruiz Jr., Pedro Ruiz and Cesario Ruiz; sisters; Isabel Ruiz, Lupe Ruiz, and Josephine Muñoz.

He is survived by his two daughters; Nina Elias and Ann Ruiz, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
