John Henry Pina (July 10, 1930 - January 17, 2022)
It is with a heavy heart that I say my Father is finally at peace. I want to thank everyone for all of your prayers and well wishes. My dad fought a good fight, but it was time for him to rejoice with the Lord.
Henry died at the young age of 91 at his home in Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Rising Star, TX to the late Juan and Elena Pina, their first born. He had four brothers and four sisters. Surviving siblings are Lupino Pina from Slaton, TX, Carolina Pina from Dallas, TX, and Martha Lopez from California.
Henry has four children Ester, Estella, and Manuel Pina from Lubbock and Esperanza Dablia from Slaton, 15 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 41 great-great grandchildren.
Henry was very much loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was in the care of Hospice of the South Plains for the last four years with the best group of caring caregivers. Thank you so much Jamie, Heather, Jane, David and Lensey. We love you.
Honoring Henry as pallbearers are Michele Trevino, Joel Sanchez, Thomas Lee Sanchez, Timmothy Sanchez, Thomas Isaiah Sanchez, and Joel Nathaniel Sanchez.
We can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what he would want, smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 24 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary Prayer at 7:00 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Slaton, TX with burial to follow at Englewood Cemetery.
