Jessie Mendez

Jessie H. Mendez, a dedicated farmer, loving husband, father, and grandpa, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 29, 1955, in Tahoka, Texas, Jessie devoted his life to his family and his work on the farm, instilling values of hard work and dedication in all who knew him.

Jessie was a proud man, who found immense joy and fulfillment in his role as a family man. He faithfully attended each of his grandchildren's special events, cheering loudly from the sidelines, embodying the encouragement and support that he provided throughout their lives. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his family, especially the bond he shared with his beloved grandchildren, Amanda, AJ, Sarah, Xavier, Alexandria, Leo, and Andrew.

On December 12, 1975, Jessie married his beloved wife, Geneva Mendez, and shared 49 years of marriage. Together, they built a family that includes their son, Adam Mendez, and Adam's wife, Tiffany, as well as their daughter, Brenda, and her husband, Mike. In addition to his immediate family, Jessie is survived by his siblings: Stella, Linda, Anita, and Margie, and his brother, Pete, along with many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

As a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Texas Tech, Jessie found joy in watching football games and classic westerns. His warm personality, combined with his unwavering support for his loved ones, made a lasting impact on all who met him.

Preceding Jessie in death were his parents, Jesus and Refugia Mendez, and his sister, Janie Flores, whose memories and legacies will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A celebration of life to honor Jessie H. Mendez will be held on July 25, 2025, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, Texas. The service will commence at 10:00 AM, with a gathering of family and friends to remember and celebrate the life of an exceptional man who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
