Jesse D. Paez "Chuy" went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2021, at the age of 73. He was born September 16, 1947, in Cameron, TX to Gregorio and Maria Paez. On September 30, 1967, he married his beloved wife Juanita, and they shared 52 years together. Chuy worked in the automotive industry as an autobody painter for many years. During this time, he received numerous requests for assistance from people all over West Texas to paint their vehicles. His hobbies were rebuilding engines, restoring vehicles, and drag racing which led him to the sport of racing. His 1969 Chevy Nova was his pride and joy. He was a jokester and loved joking around with friends and family. He enjoyed pitting his grandchildren against each other. They all knew his love of sweets, so they would occasionally bring him treats. Each time he received a treat from one of his grands, he would tell them they were his favorite. This sparked a loving war between them, prompting them to send each other photos (of their beloved grandfather) and boast about being the "favorite grandchild of the day." Driven by the desire to teach his grandson how to defend himself, Chuy became a boxing coach with the North Lubbock Boxing Club. Chuy was a simple man who always encouraged his children to be the best they could be. He will be remembered by his friends and family for being a genuine friend, loving husband, father, grandfather, and #1 Cowboys fan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Juanita Paez, his daughter Debbie Valderaz, his sons Jesse (Sally) Paez, Jr. and Israel (Tomasita) Paez, his brother Alfredo Paez, his sister Rosa Paez, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Chuy is preceded in death by his parents Gregorio and Maria Paez, and his brothers Larry D. Paez and George Paez.
