Janie Sosa, born May 5, 1944, passed away on September 1, 2026, at the age of 82.

Janie will be remembered as a very strong person whose kindness touched many lives. She was a loving person and a great wife, and she was known as someone who would help anyone in need. Her love for her family was at the heart of her life, and she especially loved her grandchildren, who brought her great pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband, Ignacio Sosa. She also leaves behind her daughter, Barbara Bigham, and Barbara’s husband, Sonny Bigham; her sons, Ignacio Sosa, Jr. and his wife, Alison Sosa, and Steven Sosa. Janie’s memory will also be cherished by her grandsons Cody Bigham, Laston Bigham, Cameron Sosa, Abel Sosa, Aaron Sosa, and Steven Andrew. She is further survived by her siblings, Matilda Overbey, Pete Rodriguez, Phillip Rodriguez, and Alice Meija. Each of them carries forward the memory of her strength, her love, and the care she showed so freely to others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Felipe Rodriguez; her mother, Francisca Calderon Rodriguez; and her sister, Sandy Mendez.

Janie Sosa will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A Memorial Gathering for Janie Sosa will be held on September 5, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, Texas 79415.
