Israel Hernandez

Israel "Tony" Hernandez passed from this life on February 5, 2023 at the age of 71. He was born April 19, 1951 to Tomas and Geneva Hernandez in Lubbock, Texas. On April 19, 1972 He married Janie Orosco Hernandez. They shared 50 years together and had two handsome boys. Tony attended Monterey High School and retired as a maintenance engineer with Sodexo. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Tony enjoyed watching western movies and was the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved being outside, watering and maintaining his lawn, and caring for his dogs. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and the special love he had for all of his grandchildren that adored their "PoPo." Tony had a big heart and showed it in his own way.
He is survived by his wife Janie; his son Isaac "Ike" and wife Celeste of Lubbock, Texas; 8 grandchildren Jenah, Crespina, Jayvin (wife Samantha), Joshua, Sydni, Alejandra, Giavana, and Ava; 7 great-grandchildren Jazzlynn, Jaylee, Jayceigh, Izayah, Luka, Gianni, and Aryes; his brothers, Thomas Hernandez and Noe Hernandez.

Tony is preceded in death by his son Jacob Hernandez, his father Thomas Hernandez, his mother Geneva Hernandez, his brother Guadalupe Hernandez, his sisters Cecilia Gutierrez and Eva Guzman, his father-in-law Crespin R. Orosco, and his mother-in-law Olivia Orosco.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. A funeral mass will be held Friday, February 10 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Manriquez officiating.
Pallbearers: David Orosco, Jr., Ricky Orosco, Joey Trevino, Jayvin Hernandez, Joshua Hernandez, Misael Guzman, Crespin Orosco III, and Brandon Ramos.
