Ismael Flores

Ismael Flores passed from this life on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the age of 66. He was the husband of Peggy Flores. They married July 18, 1981 in Lubbock, Texas and shared 42 years together. He was born July 24, 1957 in Logan, Utah to Isidro and Adelina Flores. He was a graduate of Smyer High School, South Plains College, and Texas Tech University. Ismael was employed by Texas Tech University as a Supply Clerk for the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. During his involvement with the Knights, he was the Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Guadalupanas and Guadalupanos, a CCE teacher, and a director of the Columbian Squires. Ismael enjoyed chess, reading, and was a big history buff. During his high school years, he was on the Smyer varsity football team, a member of the Smyer High School band, and ran track. He will be remembered for his love of people and could have talked to a wall if it would have answered him, his Catholic faith, the care he took in helping his parents raise his siblings, and his love for reading and history.
Ismael is survived by his beloved wife Peggy; his children Joshua Ismael (Amanda) Flores, Nathan Todd (Jonell) Flores, and Rachel Ann (Hector Omar) Montalvo; his grandchildren Nathan Flores, Aaron Flores, James Flores, J'lyn Flores, and Arissa Flores; his siblings Rosanna (Mike) Quilling, Isidro, Jr. (Melissa) Flores, Cynthia (Matthew) Welch, Pete (Angie) Flores, Raul (Susan) Flores; and his grandfurries Simba, Apollo, Peanut, and Cloud. Ismael is preceded in death by his parents Isidro, Sr. and Adelina Flores.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 102 Avenue P, with Rev. Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
