Irene G. Silvar

Irene G. Silvar, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully surrounded by family on July 5, 2026. Born on August 8, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas, Irene’s warmth and generosity infused every space she entered, leaving lasting memories and a remarkable legacy for all who knew her.

Irene’s life was defined by her deep devotion to family. She is survived by her loving husband, Ray Silvar, who stood by her side throughout life’s journey; her three sons, Assie Silvar (Jennifer Silvar), Gregory Silvar, and Michael Silvar (Tina Criado), who were each a source of immense pride and joy. Her adoration for her grandchildren—Brianna Perez, Raven Silvar, Ossie Silvar, Ariana Criado-Silvar, Gregory Silvar, Alana Silvar, and Baby Silvar—was boundless, and the time spent with them filled her heart. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Zaidee Rios and Cali Rios, delighting in watching her family grow with each new generation.

Irene is also remembered by her siblings—brothers Ricardo Garcia and Gilbert Garcia, and sisters Rosa Garcia, Margarita Ortega, and Marina Gonzales—each sharing in the family’s rich traditions and loving support for one another. As her circle widened, family get-togethers became treasured occasions, with Irene welcoming everyone with open arms and an open heart.

She is preceded in death by her father Herbert Garcia, mother Abelina Garcia, brothers Demetrio and Robert Garcia, sister Julia Garcia, nieces Katrina Castillo and Priscilla Garcia, and nephew Eric Briceno. Irene missed her mother deeply and found comfort in the thought of being home with her once more.

For more than thirty years, Irene’s hard work and dedication shone through her business, Irene's Upholstery. Her skill and commitment touched the Lubbock community, and her loyal patrons returned again and again, knowing they were in the presence of a true professional who valued every detail.

Irene’s passions extended far beyond her work. She found joy in spending time in her gameroom, sewing creations for loved ones, attending car shows, exploring thrift shops, and, above all, being with her grandchildren. She had an innate ability to make anyone feel at home, always acting as a helping hand in the community and in her family. Her love of collecting antiques was a reflection of her appreciation for stories, both old and new.

Possessing a steadfast loyalty, Irene was known for being the most dependable and giving person anyone could hope to meet. Her greatest accomplishment was undoubtedly her family, whom she loved with her whole heart.
