Ignacio M. Almanza, Jr. was born on February 5, 1932 in San Juan, Texas to Ignacio and Francisca Almanza who preceded him in death. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2019 at the age of 87 years. Ignacio served in the US Army from 1952 through 1954 during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Hilaria Ybarra, in 1956. He was a migrant worker for many years, and also worked as an Auto Mechanic with a local dealership. His later trades included, but were not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and residential building and cabinet work. He worked for American Windows & Door Co. in Lubbock for several years, and then with Frontier Wholesale Mill Works building aluminum windows until he retired. He also enjoyed fishing, watching his westerns and above all, spending time with his family. He was the heart of the family, who brought joy and laughter, and a true Godly man. Ignacio is survived by his wife, Hilaria; children, Rosendo, Danny, Joel and Jody; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and by three sisters, Lilly Garcia, Anita Loya and Juanita Lopez. He was preceded in death by Ignacio Jo III, Mary Ann Leyva and Gracie Smith. Visitation will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 9am-9pm. Funeral services will begin on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00pm also at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery.
