Guillermo "Willie" Prieto, passed away on May 28, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, after a long battle with illness. He was born on April 24, 1966, in Lubbock. Throughout his life, Willie was known for his generous and loving nature, always caring for those around him. He brought laughter and joy to many with his humorous personality, and he had an innate ability to make any kitchen feel like home, often taking the reins when visiting family and friends. His love for cooking was matched only by his love for his family, whom he cherished deeply.
Willie's memories are forever intertwined with joyous occasions, notably during the Christmas season, which he always made memorable for his loved ones. He also enjoyed shopping at Mardels, often sharing these experiences with those closest to him.
A proud father and grandfather, Willie frequently expressed love and pride for his children and grandchildren, ensuring they knew how much they meant to him. He is survived by his son, Michael Ray (Patricia) Zuniga; daughters Mindy Marie (Julian) Ojeda and Victoria (David Jr) Gutierrez; grandchildren Christopher and Brianna Zuniga, Alexis Perez, Michael, Alyssa, Ashley, JayJay, Jacob, and Amiah Ojeda, Nathaniel, Eviana, Faith, and Mia Gutierrez; and great-grandchildren Avery and A.J. Rodriguez, Myiah Gutierrez, and Isiah Ojeda. He also leaves behind his siblings: Johnny (Clara) Prieto, Eddie (Sandy) Prieto, George (Nelly) Prieto, Patsy (Ricky) Garcia, Maria Prieto, Angela (Tony) Gonzales, Ray Prieto, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Preceding Willie in death were his parents, Francisco Prieto and Eustacia Briceno Prieto, along with his son, Noel Jason Zuniga and sister in law Sandy Prieto.
A visitation will be held on June 3, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Guajardo Funeral Chapels, located at 407 N University Ave, Lubbock, Texas. A Rosary will follow the visitation from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the same day. Mass will be celebrated on June 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Grace Catholic Church, located at 3111 Erskine Street, Lubbock, Texas. Following the Mass, Willie will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, Texas, at 11:15 AM. A reception will follow at The Party Spot address 2854 34th St Lubbock Tx, 79410.
Willie's legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know him. He fought his battle with grace, and now he is at peace.
