Guadalupe Hiracheta

July 3, 1942 — September 12, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Guadalupe "Lupe" Hiracheta, who left us on September 12, 2025, at the age of 83 in Slaton, Texas. Born on July 3, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, Lupe was a beacon of warmth, love, and honesty throughout her life, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Lupe's journey led her through various paths, touching many lives along the way. She devoted years of service in her career, working at Kmart, JCPenney, Walmart, and Lubbock Cooper ISD. Her dedication and hard work were admired by her colleagues and friends alike, and her generosity and caring spirit left a lasting impression that will not be forgotten.

A proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lupe’s proudest accomplishments include the loving family she nurtured. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 65 years, Julio Hiracheta. Together, they created a family filled with life and laughter. Her children, Mary (Bob) Villarreal, Diana (Mark) DeGraff, and Julio (Son) Hiracheta Jr., carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Lupe took immense joy in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing moments with her grandchildren: Amanda (Brian) Palacios, Aaron (Olivia) Villarreal, Alycia (David) Talley, Isabella Mendez and Zachary (Lindsay) DeGraff. Her great-grandchildren, Brianna, Sylas, Elijah, Salem, Tyler, and Eleanor, will forever know the warmth of her love.

Education was significant to Lupe; she proudly achieved her GED, which stood as a testament to her determination. Her hobbies of cooking, sewing, knitting, and baking symbolized her caring nature, reflecting how she provided for her family and friends with her heartfelt creations.

Lupe is survived by her cherished siblings: Lala, Edwardo Jr., Luis, David, Ruben, Sarah, and Tony, who will hold her memory close to their hearts. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Edwardo Sr. and Maria Del Refugio Mendoza, and her siblings Jose, Daniel, and Rosa.

A visitation with family will be held on September 16, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Guajardo Funeral Chapels in Lubbock, Texas. The funeral service honoring Lupe's life will take place the following day, September 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wilson, Texas, followed by her burial at W.M.D. Green Memorial Park.

Lupe's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, her unwavering honesty, and the love she so freely shared. She will be remembered for her strength, devotion, and the echoes of laughter that will forever dance in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Lupe. Your loving spirit will remain with us always.
