Fortunato Gomez Jr, age 73 of Lubbock, Tx passed away on November 17,2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Fortune is remembered as a servant of God, loving husband,father,grandfather and brother.
He loved spending time with his family having bbqs and going to watch them play sports.
He had a love for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech.
Fortune was known by many for his love of God. He was a servant of God for over 30yrs. He was willing to pray or minister to whomever wanted or needed it. He would always rejoice when was able to win a soul for the kingdom of God.
He loved taking pictures to capture beautiful memories of his family. He loved to dance… he was well known for his “James Brown” moves.
Fortune was born on June 9,1952 in George West, Tx to Fortunato and Dominga Gomez. He grew up in Lamesa, Tx where he met the love of his life Dana.
Fortune married Dana Zarate on April 17,1967 at the age of 15. They shared 57 years of marriage.
Fortune served in the United States Army. He was in the 11 Bravo Infantry Unit, served as an army specialist for 2yrs.
He was a funny loving and caring man. He left an impact on anyone that knew him.
To Fortune his love for God and his family always came first.
He owned FJG remodeling for over 30yrs.
Fortune is survived by his wife Dana Gomez, 3 sons Edmund Gomez (Lisa), Eric Gomez(Corina), Jeremiah Fortune Gomez(Carrie) 2 daughters Sunshine Gomez (Trevor) and Deborah Gomez.
15 grand children, and 21 great grandchildren
4 brothers Adam,David, Martin and Joe Gomez
2 sisters Nellie Montes and Virginia Gomez.
A viewing will be held at Guajardo Funeral Chapels on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 6-9pm 407 N. University Avenue Lubbock, Texas.
A service to celebrate his life will be on Friday November 21,2025 10am at Westwood Church 8701 Upland Ave.
Final rite and interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
Pall bearers will be Michael Ryan Gomez, Aaron Jermaine Lyons, Anthony Randall, Cesar Guevara , Henry Cortez , and Emelio Sanchez III
